Many types of wormwood have been used in folk medicine for intestinal ailments, as topical antiseptics, and for diabetes.
 
Aroma
 Armoise essential oil has a very fresh, cool,  bitter-sweet camphor tone with a soft green aftertaste. However, although the fragrance has a very strong initial effect, it disappears after a few minutes of exposure to air.
 
In natural perfumery, Armoise can be used in small amounts to enhance top notes; add freshness, greenery, naturalness; and to highlight other green notes. 
Application History 
The medieval poet, doctor, scientist and Odo of Mena, who lived in the 10th-11th centuries, wrote the poem “On the Properties of Herbs”, in which he collected information about plants and their use in medicine obtained by Galen, Pliny the Elder Dioscorides and other ancient and medieval physicians.
He described more than 100 plants, among which there is wormwood, called the "mother of herbs." According to him, once having tried this plant, one can not be afraid of either wild animals or poisonous potions.
 
Beneficial features
The bitter taste of wormwood stimulates the vital activity of the body, gives an excellent tone, has healing and cleansing properties.
Wormwood preparations were recommended as a strong antidote, allowing one to heal from fly agaric and hemlock poisoning, and were offered as a remedy for wounds received by soldiers in battles.
